DAY - 2 SANTIAGO
Santiago is a city of contrasts with traditional areas, a civic and
commercial center, and a modern district.
The tour takes four hours and begins with the Club Hípico, a beautiful horse-racing track in the older residential area of
the West Side of town with an interesting architecture. Proceeding along the main avenue, you pass by the Cousiño Palace; many
more historical buildings come into sight before reaching the heart of Santiago: the "La Moneda" government palace,
statues of national heroes of the early independence years, and the banking and business center. We stop at the Pre-Columbian Art
Museum, one of the most complete collections of ceramics, ancient textiles, and relics of the American culture. At the Main
Square (Plaza de Armas) view the Cathedral, Post Office, and National Museum. Continue along the main avenue called
"Alameda" to admire the San Francisco Church, the National Library, and then the Santa Lucía Hill, where Santiago
was founded in 1541. A little further, we cross the Mapocho river and head straight towards the San Cristobal Hill on the north
side of the city with a fine all-round view of the capital stretched out below, the Andes in background. When we go down
the hill, we are surprised to view the modern side of the bustling city and, driving towards east alongside the Mapocho
river and almost to the foothills of the Andes Range, we watch fabulous homes built in the last decades, an updated
architecture, well kept gardens, exclusive private schools, and shopping malls in the residential district of Vitacura, Las
Condes, and Santa Maria de Manquehue. Continue towards to the conventional shopping area of Providencia with a large variety
of restaurants, coffee shops, and fancy boutiques. On the way back to your hotel, stop for a wine tasting at a specialized
store with a permanent display of many of Chile´s finest wines.

DAY - 3 FULL DAY TOUR TO VALPARAISO AND VINA DEL MAR
A full day excursion to Valparaiso and Viña del Mar is a "must" for every tourist visiting Chile. After crossing the
coastal range through tunnels and the unique Curacavi farming valley and, approaching the coast, the National Park and its
"man-made" Lake Peñuelas, we start feeling the cool breeze of the Pacific Ocean. We take the road to Viña del Mar and there,
in front of us, is the gorgeous simultaneous view of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar (weather permitting) overlooking the blue bay.
We drive downhill and enter Viña del Mar, Chile's main sea resort (population now over 300,000). The ride takes us past the Quinta
Vergara, a museum and site of the annual song festival; the Main Square "Plaza Vergara" and across the Marga-Marga bed towards
the scenic residential area amidst old sycamore trees. Stop shortly at the Fonck Museum with its original Moai brought over
from Easter Island. Further on, the Sporting Club race track and then alongside the coastal road north up to Con-Con, viewing the
beautiful sandy beaches and rocky areas amidst a variety of birds and, eventually, penguins and sea-lions, homes, restaurants and
apartment buildings on the hill side. Return to Viña del Mar for lunch (on your own).
